NORTHWEST AUSTIN, TEXAS
TOWN & COUNTRY OPTIMIST CLUB

pony / colt

The Pony and Colt leagues are often combined in order to field teams. These girls range in age from 13 to 16 with the "softball age" being determined by the player's age on January 1st for the season in which they are participating. Teams are formed through a draft process in this league, making coaching requests very difficult to accommodate; however, every registered girl is placed on a team. No one is eliminated due to their ability. In this league, players use a 12 inch softball .

Game schedules are typically not available until the week prior to the start of the season. Spring games do not begin until after Spring Break and the season will end before summer vacation starts. Fall games begin in early September and end prior to Thanksgiving. Minimal travel may be involved for away games to places like Leander-Cedar Park, Balcones, Round Rock, and Georgetown.

Games may be held on any weeknight or Saturdays. Sunday is reserved in case additional make up days are needed due to bad weather. For additional questions, please contact our Bronco/Pony/Colt commissioner.

Interlocking Playing Rules

For the Spring 2008 season, T&C Softball will follow the PONY rules for Softball and the specific rules for the Pony and Colt Leagues as addressed in the PONY rule book. The only exceptions to the PONY rules are as follows:

1) No outs will be taken when a team does not have enough players

2) No forfeits will occur when a team has 5 or more players. If necessary, they can borrow players from the other team or use other T&C players from the Pony or Colt leagues. Coaches will be required workout the details prior to the game; but in general, the "borrowed" players will play in the outfield and bat toward the end of the line-up.

3) No infield practice before the game. The home team should be preparing the field (chalking, racking, etc.)

4) There is a 5 run per inning limit.
