GIRL'S SOFTBALL
Girls Youth Softball is played in both the spring and the fall. The Spring Season (generally March through May with registration beginning in January) is generally more competitive with up to 4 outings (games and/or practices) per week. More emphasis is placed on skills development and winning; though, fun is important also.
The Fall Season (generally late September through mid-November with registration starting in July) generally consists of up to 3 outings (games and/or practices) per week. Emphasis is placed on learning basic skills, playing different positions and having fun.
Games will be played during the week and on Saturdays. During both the Fall and Spring seasons, games are generally played be on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings; in addition to Saturday mornings and afternoons. Occasional Friday night games are possible due to scheduling requirements of our interlock (other leagues) partners. Sundays will be used for make-up games only. Practices may be held on any day of the week either at T&C or off-site, at the discretion of the coach.

Congratulations!!
The Hotshotz 96 (12U/Bronco open team) took 3rd place at PONY Platinum Nationals in Harlingen,TX this past week. The girls were the only 1st year Bronco team in the bracket and battled mightily against older and more experienced teams. The PONY field director talked to the girls after the 2nd/3rd place game and told them that in the 21 years he has been around softball and baseball he had never seen a team with such fight, heart and sportsmanship. Way to go girls and coaches.

Leagues (Rec and Open)
Town and Country Softball provides girls ages 5 through 16 the opportunity to play in a Recreational League or play on various Open Teams. There are five age appropriate leagues. These include:
- Shetland (T-Ball): ages 5-6
- Pinto (Coach Pitch): ages 7-8
- Mustang (Fast Pitch): ages 9-10
- Bronco (Fast Pitch): ages 11-12
- Pony/Colt (Fast Pitch): ages 13-16. Pony/Colt leagues are combined into one league.
More information about each league can be found via the Leagues link and below.
“PLAY TOGETHER, STAY TOGETHER” - Recreational League - The program is designed to allow participants to play with more of their friends and build team unity. Teams formed in the Fall season can return in the Spring season. A coach may protect up to 4 players in the Fall.

"OPEN TEAMS " - This program (teams are called the Hotshotz) is designed to create an opportunity for girls to play more competitive softball than is offered at the current recreational level. Open League teams are formed in the fall and commit to play together for the fall, spring, and are given right of first refusal to continue and play on the summer All-Star team together. Open League is only offered at the Pinto, Mustang, and Bronco age divisions.
If you are interested in playing on or coaching an Advanced League Team, please contact Sandy Young for more information. The Open Teams offer a more competitive environment and requires that the players and coaches commit to a full year of play.

Does Your Daughter Want to Pitch?

Starting in the Mustang League (9-10 year olds), the girls begin to pitch to the batters. If your daughter has shown interest in pitching or you think she might be interested, contact your coach or a board member for more information about what is involved or about lessons. Pitching is a lot of fun!!!
